A pedestrian struck and killed on an on-ramp to southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco early this morning has been identified as 56-year-old Thor Thomas.

Thomas, a San Francisco resident, was struck around 3:30 a.m. on the Octavia Street on-ramp to the highway just south of Market Street, according to California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Vu Williams.

Williams said the CHP received a number of calls reporting a pedestrian down in the roadway, and some bystanders stopped at the scene.

The driver that struck the pedestrian was not on scene, but later contacted the CHP through 911 to report hitting something. That person has since come in for an interview with investigators, Williams said.

No arrest has been made in the case as of this morning. The driver does not appear to have been intoxicated, Williams said.
