Relatives of Wayne Chan, one of three people murdered in Wednesday's UPS shooting, have launched a $50,000 fundraising campaign to help support his immediate family. Chan, who was 56, worked for the delivery service for 28 years.
The GoFundMe campaign joins a memorial installed on Haight Street outside FTC Skateboarding on Thursday by owner Kent Uyehara. As of this writing, the campaign has raised $8,142 from 109 people.
Chan's UPS route included the Upper Haight and Cole Valley for more than a decade; since his death, residents and merchants have shared memories of the well-liked driver in person and on social media.
Although Chan's relatives have asked for privacy, they have verified the campaign's authenticity; funds raised will go directly to Chan's immediate family.
