While we don't report on every crime that occurs in Hayes Valley and the Western Addition, we do our best to keep you informed about goings-on in the neighborhood.

Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred in the area since our last roundup in early May. All reports were provided by the SFPD, unless otherwise noted.

Park Bathroom Arson

On May 17 at 1pm, witnesses saw two teenagers between the ages of 13 and 15 exit a bathroom in the park at Laguna Street and Golden Gate Avenue while smoke was coming from the windows.

SFFD responded and discovered a garbage fire inside the bathroom that torched the walls to the ceiling.

Garbage Cans Set Ablaze

On May 28 at 9:20pm, an unknown suspect lit garbage cans at a school on the 1500 block of Golden Gate Avenue on fire. SFFD responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

Burglary Escalates To Armed Robbery

On June 4 at 4:15pm, a 22-year-old man came home to find a man in his twenties inside his apartment on the 1400 block of Fillmore Street. The suspect brandished a gun before fleeing in an unknown direction with a camera, watch and wallet.

Hot Prowl Burglary Suspect Arrested

A 30-year-old man was in his room on the 1300 block of McAllister Street on June 8 at 1:25am when he heard a loud noise. He checked the house and confronted a 45-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman inside his home.

The victim was able to keep them there until police officers arrived. The intruders were arrested and no property was stolen.

Hammer Assault Injures Woman On Market Street

On June 7, a 23-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after she was attacked by an assailant wielding a hammer around 3:45am on the 1700 block of Market Street. More about that in our story.
