Thanh Huynh, the decades-long owner of the anchor Upper Haight cleaner and alterations shop Shrader Clean, died early last Saturday of natural causes.

Tipster Allison, who called Huynh "a staple of the community," said he was stricken ill at work, leading a customer to call for paramedics.

The shop, which has been available for pickups but no new jobs since then, will be closed tomorrow and on Wednesday for memorial services in Colma and will resume for business after.

A notice posted in the window at the cleaners announced the news to neighbors. The letter remembers Huynh as "loving and joyful," a memorable face in the Upper Haight community.

"He was a hardworking man that connected with everyone who came into the store and always made his customers laugh or smile. He will be dearly missed for his laugh, smile, and jokes."

If you'd like to pay your respects, services will be held at Cypress Lawn Newell Cemetery, 1383 El Camino Real, Colma. Viewing is Tuesday, June 27 from 4–9pm, burial is Wednesday, June 28 from 1–3pm.
