Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred around Hayes Valley since our last roundup in early June. Unless otherwise noted, all information comes from SFPD reports.

Auto Burglaries: #1 Property Crime

In the latest Northern Station community newsletter, Capt. John Jaimerena noted that auto burglaries continue to be the biggest property crime challenge in the Northern District.

"We have made it the highest priority to apprehend the individuals involved," he wrote, adding that officers are making "plenty of arrests."

To prevent auto theft, police said that neighbors shouldn't leave their cars unlocked. Other advice includes parking in well-lit public areas, installing an audible alarm or anti-theft device, not leaving valuable personal property in the car and reporting suspicious behavior.

Argument Escalates To Assault, Robbery

On June 24th, between 4 and 5pm, a 55-year-old man and a 57-year-old man argued on the 1100 block of Fillmore St. As the argument became more heated, the 55-year-old suspect hit the other man. The suspect also took money from the victim's pants pockets.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrest has been made.

Couple Assaulted, Robbed On Grove St.

On June 28th at 7:48pm, a 41-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were approached from behind by two suspects—described as two men in their 20s—on the 800 block of Grove Street.

One suspect grabbed and held one victim, punching them with a fist and taking a camera. The suspect then pushed past the other victim and fled in a vehicle driven by the other suspect.

One victim suffered non-life threatening injuries from the encounter. No arrest has been made.

73-year-old Woman Assaulted, Robbed Of Necklace

On July 2nd, around 1:30pm, a robbery occurred near Golden Gate Avenue and Laguna Street. A 20-year-old man approached a 73-year-old woman and pushed her to the ground.

He then snatched a necklace she was wearing and fled eastbound on Golden Gate Avenue. The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries from the incident and was transported to a hospital. A pendant was later recovered, but no arrest has been made.

Daylight Stabbing Sends Man To Hospital

On July 3rd, at 2:30pm, an unknown suspect approached a 27-year-old man from behind at Market Street and South Van Ness Avenue.

The victim felt something hit him in the back and realized he was bleeding. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; he also refused to provide further information on the case. No arrest has been made.
