Here's a recap of reported crimes that have occurred since our last recap. Unless otherwise noted, all details come from SFPD reports.

Conversational Robber Steals Woman’s Property 

Around 6:15pm on July 11th, a man said to be in his late twenties approached a woman near the intersection of 8th and Market streets and the two started chatting.

Mid-conversation, the man took the woman’s bag containing money, credit and debit cards and medication. She fought back but the man told her to leave, and she complied. The suspect has not been identified. 

Man Surrounded, Attacked By Teens On Market Street

A 47-year-old man was in a business on the 1000 block of Market Street (near Taylor) at 7:15pm on July 9th when 10 males said to be between 14 and 17 years old surrounded him, followed him outside, and assaulted him.

The suspects removed the victim’s cellphone, money and wallet from his pockets before fleeing on foot. The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and no arrests have been made. 

Police Recover Phone After UN Plaza Robbery

Around 2:30pm on July 8th, an 18-year-old woman was walking in UN Plaza when an 18-year-old man came up behind her and grabbed her phone. Police on scene witnessed the woman fall in a struggle, apprehended the suspect and recovered her phone.

Man Attacked With bottle, Robbed Of Skateboard

A 35-year-old man was walking with his skateboard on the 200 block of Eddy Street (near Taylor) at 6:30am on July 8th when he was approached by another man, who demanded he hand over his property.

The victim refused to surrender his skateboard, so the suspect hit him with a bottle and stole it. The suspect fled with the skateboard and has not been identified. 

Female Duo Pepper-sprays Man In Early-morning Robbery

A 21-year-old man met two women said to be in their mid-twenties at a business on the 100 block of Ellis (near Powell) around 3:00am on July 7th, and walked with them as they left.

One of the women then pepper-sprayed the man and demanded his money. The victim handed over his wallet and the suspects fled in an unknown direction. The man reported the incident at the Tenderloin Police Station, but the suspects have not been identified. 

Suspect Arrested On Outstanding Warrant After Robbery Report

A 29-year-old man told SFPD he was attacked and robbed by an unknown number of suspects around 12:15pm on July 6th near the intersection of Golden Gate and Hyde streets. Officers responded, but all suspects had fled by then.

Although the victim’s backpack and multiple suspects were located by the responding officers, the victim was unable to identify his assailants. Only one of the suspects was arrested, on an unrelated outstanding warrant.

Two Daylight Robberies On O'Farrell St. Occur Within Hours

A 65-year-old woman was walking on the 500 block of Leavenworth (near O’Farrell) around 3:50pm on July 5th when two men said to be in their mid-thirties approached her. One suspect grabbed the victim’s purse off her shoulder and the other tore the necklace off her neck, before they both fled on foot. 

About one block away at 1:45pm that same day, a man said to be in his early thirties approached a 63-year-old woman from behind near the intersection of Hyde and O’Farrell, and threw her to the ground.

The suspect then took the victim’s jewelry and fled on foot eastbound on O’Farrell and has not been identified. The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Tenderloin Station’s regular monthly community meeting will not be held in July, but residents can join the officers for the National Night Out at Boeddeker Park on August 1 from 5-7pm.
