Two banks a few hundred feet apart were robbed almost simultaneously yesterday afternoon in the Financial District, police reported.

In the first incident, a man in his fifties entered a bank on the 200 block of California Street around 1pm and demanded money from a employee. When the victim, a 63-year-old woman, gave the suspect an unknown amount of cash, he walked out of the bank.

On the unit block of California six minutes later, a man between 60 and 70 years old approached a 30-year-old female teller “and demanded money,” according to SFPD.

After she complied, the man fled southbound on Market Street on foot.

Anyone who has information about either of these incidents is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.
