Get Burgers And More At North Oakland's New 'Sideshow'Photo: Mike B./Yelp

Burger fans, take heed: there's a new spot in town to get your fix. Located at 942 Stanford Ave. (between Lowell St & 60th St) in North Oakland, the fresh arrival is called Sideshow.

Sideshow, which took over from the space formerly occupied by Grease Box, is serving up an array of breakfast and lunch options, from burgers and sandwiches to shawarmas and wings. The project is an offshoot of Home Grown Oakland, also helmed by owner Mike Beatrice.

For breakfast, try the avocado toast on Acme bread with a fried egg, or the "All-American Breakfast" (eggs cooked any way, potatoes, toast, and options to add avocado or a choice of bacon or chicken sausage). At lunchtime, try the Mexi-Cali burger (with avocado, elote crema, lettuce, tomato, onion, pepper jack cheese and aioli) or the Korean-style BBQ chicken tray, which comes with rice, red beans, greens and elote. (Check out the full menu here.)

Sideshow has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of nine reviews on Yelp.

David C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on August 14th, said: "Good food. Good people. Glad to have them in the neighborhood! What's not to like? Yay!"

Yelper Lisa C. added: “The owner(s) did a really nice job of improving this place. Very charming. Plus the food is excellent and high quality and just like Homegrown. Recommended!”

And Dwayne B. said: "This place took over for the Grease Box. Had an All-American burger and and it hit the spot. A good burger joint to take over for Victory Burger. It's connected to Homegrown Oakland."

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Sideshow is open Monday–Saturday from 9:30am–4pm. (It's closed on Sunday.)
