The area near Haight and Webster streets was submerged this morning after construction crews reportedly struck a water main.
According to tipster Dan Jackson, employees of SF Water Power Sewer “just hit a water main while doing construction and completely flooded Haight and Webster” around 9:30am.

Jackson said his water has been cut off, while another resident said the incident “explains the brown water coming out of my sink.”
By 9:45am, the water receded, but Webster Street north of Haight is still closed to traffic due to construction.
Public Works is managing an infrastructure improvement project in the area. The ongoing work is replacing water and sewer mains, upgrading traffic signals, and adding new curb ramps, bulb-outs and street surfaces. The work began in April 2015, but it’s not slated to wrap up until May 2018.
This isn’t the first time a mishap complicated life for residents and merchants in the Lower Haight; last month, noise complaints related to overnight construction work led District 5 Supervisor London Breed—who lives nearby—to complain to Public Works.
Shortly after 10am, SF Water Power Sewer posted on Twitter that a team had been dispatched to make repairs and that "water service has been shut down to avoid further leak[s]."
Crews are en route to make repairs & water service has been shut down to avoid further leak. Thanks for your patience while we make repairs.
