A man who was reportedly protecting a homeless person from harassment last night was stabbed by assailants last night in the Tenderloin, police report.

In the attack, which occurred near the corner of Eddy and Hyde streets around 9:50pm, a 31-year-old man intervened when five suspects between the ages of 16 and 20 were intimidating an unhoused person.

The suspects began assaulting the man, and one of the suspects stabbed him with a knife. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and police have not made any arrests in the case.
