Five people were displaced after a one-alarm fire broke out between two homes in Merced Heights, reported fire officials.
The fire started yesterday at 7:45pm at 614 Garfield St., between Ralston and Vernon streets, and then spread to its next-door neighbor at 608 Garfield.
Firefighters brought it under control by 8:06pm, and no injuries were reported.

Initially, SFFD reported that seven adults were displaced in the fire. However, earlier this morning, an SFFD spokesperson on Facebook clarified the situation.
Because of the fire, 614 Garfield is now uninhabitable, and the five people who lived in the residence are now displaced.
A family of four who lived in the home found their own housing and did not need assistance from the American Red Cross; a roommate who lived in the house is now recovering with their own family.
Two other adults were initially thought to be displaced from 608 Garfield, but as it turns out, they were able to stay in their home.
Fire officials are now investigating the incident.
