Just in time for the 50th anniversary of the Summer Of Love, something rather trippy manifested on Haight Street this morning.

On Reddit, ThatsNotMyWalletBB posted a photo of an unlikely sight: Volkswagen’s new concept electric vehicle microbus, parked in the westbound Muni bus stop at Haight and Masonic behind a model of older vintage.

The new I.D. Buzz isn’t slated to go into production until 2022, but passersby who noticed this morning's juxtaposition of old and new observed that it “definitely looked like they were doing a photoshoot.”

We contacted the SF Film Commission to ask if a commercial shoot had been authorized for that time and location, but a representative said no permit had been issued.

According to Road & Track, the all-electric I.D. Buzz will have a floor-mounted battery and “Level 3 autonomous driving,” which means the vehicle can handle “steering, braking, and acceleration on its own in certain scenarios.”
