Unknown suspects shot a man in the Outer Richmond early this morning, according to police.

In the incident, which took place at 12:12am near the intersection of California Street and 22nd Avenue, a man was smoking outdoors when he was approached by two suspects in their twenties.

After one of the suspects reached inside a pocket, the victim “felt afraid and pepper-sprayed” both of them before running away. At that time, the victim “heard shots fired and noticed he was shot.”

The suspects fled northbound on 22nd Avenue in a car, and the victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
