5 Fun And Affordable Things To Do In Oakland This WeekendPhoto: Piedmont Avenue Pumpkin Patch/Facebook

Mixing up your weekend routine can be tough, especially without breaking the bank. But if you're looking for something new to do in Oakland this weekend, we've found five fun activities that are worth your time, from an autumnal pumpkin patch to Star Wars night with the A's. Best of all, all five are offered at a discount. Read on for some fun and relatively inexpensive ways to spice up a weekend in Oakland.

Get into the fall spirit at a pumpkin patch/haunted house

The first day of autumn is upon us, and while the weather may still be a little warm for that pumpkin spice latte, you can get into the Halloween spirit by visiting the Piedmont Avenue Pumpkin Patch and haunted house.

The patch offers more than 15 varieties of pumpkins for that perfect jack o'lantern, while the haunted house has both scary and "not-so-scary" options, ensuring kids can join in on the fun. Admission to the haunted house alone is typically $16 for two, but for just a buck more, you can get a Groupon package that comes with a $10 credit towards purchasing the pumpkin of your dreams.

Wake up right with a morning power yoga class

It's tempting to sleep in on Saturday mornings, but if you're looking to start off your weekend with a burst of energy, consider hitting a class at Left Coast Power Yoga. With two locations in Grand Lake and Uptown, the studio offers six to seven classes for all levels before the stroke of noon on the weekend—perfect for those who enjoy hitting the snooze button a few too many times.

Drop-in admission to one class is typically $17, but for $49, you can buy a package of 10 classes on Groupon. They're for the morning only, though, so you may want to stick to solo admission if you tend to sleep on your workout schedule.

Use the Force at the A's Star Wars night

The A's are going to need more than a few Jedi mind tricks to rise from their position at the bottom of the AL West, but that doesn't mean a good time still can't be had at the Coliseum. On Saturday, they'll take on their division rivals, the Texas Rangers, for a Star Wars-themed evening of baseball, complete with a postgame fireworks show set to John Williams' iconic score. Free commemorative T-shirts and costumed fans will also be part of the fun.

Field level and plaza outfield tickets are normally $26-40, but Goldstar has them for $20-31 (including fees).

Laugh the week away at a Best of the Bay comedy showcase

Had a rough week? Enjoy a few laughs at The Layover's Saturday-night comedy event. This week's lineup features national touring comedian Lyall Behrens, Punchline and Cobb's regular Matt Lieb, and Jason Reslor, who's appeared twice on Comedy Central.

Tickets are normally $16 each, but Groupon is offering them for $10 for one person or $15 for two. As an added bonus, there's no drink minimum (though a full bar is available for those who'd like a cocktail), and you're welcome to bring your own food.

Get your friends together for a brunchtime karaoke session

Let's be frank: unless your friend group is comprised of fellow American Idol alumni, karaoke requires some liquid courage for everyone involved. But while most aspiring crooners hit the mic after an evening of hitting the bars, few consider dropping in after a few bloodies or mimosas at brunch.

Dragon Gate Bar & Grille near Jack London Square is aiming to change that by offering two hours of karaoke in a private room for just $39, anytime between 11am and 9pm—and its rooms can accommodate up to 15 people, meaning that everyone can sing for just a few bucks a head. Book a 1pm appointment after fueling up on bottomless mimosas at nearby District or Home of Chicken and Waffles, and let the games begin.
