Police investigators have arrested Michael Peace, a 37-year-old Alameda resident, in connection with a New Year's Day murder in Bayview earlier this year.

On January 1st, officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 1400 block of Mendell Street (near Oakdale and 3rd) in Bayview at 11:24am. 

They found Mitchell Smith, a 35-year-old San Francisco resident, on the ground with a gunshot wound. SFFD paramedics rendered aid and took Smith to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. 

On September 14th, 11:20pm, officers located and arrested Peace on the 300 block of Bayshore Boulevard (and Oakdale). He was charged with murder and booked into San Francisco County Jail.
