Tomorrow, community gardens across the city will welcome green-thumbed enthusiasts to celebrate all things green.

Open Gardens Day is “a special resource day and bike tour event where the gardens have open hours,” Rec and Park spokesperson Connie Chan told us.

The San Francisco Urban Agriculture Alliance will also host a bike tour that starts in Potrero at the Arkansas Friendship Garden, heads to SoMa's Golden Gate CommUNITY garden and ends with a pickling workshop at the White Crane Springs community garden in Inner Sunset.

Other events include a BBQ at White Crane Springs, a native plant giveaway at Golden Gate CommUNITY, and mini golf at Brook Park community garden

People interested in their own community garden plot can find their closest opportunity and ask to be added to the waitlist.

Rec and Park also intends to offer garden resources, such as mulch, for residents to take home between 10am and 1pm Saturday at the Golden Gate Park CommUNITY Garden and Alemany Farm.

Many community gardens will also have open volunteer hours, including the one at In Chan Kaajal Park, the city's newest community garden. Anyone wishing to visit can come by 9am to 1pm.
