A suspect violently assaulted three people in the heart of the Inner Sunset’s commercial district yesterday afternoon, resulting in two hospitalizations.
At 1:50pm, a man in his thirties “randomly punched” a 69-year-old woman as she was walking on the sidewalk near 9th Avenue and Irving Street, rendering her unconscious.
The suspect then turned to a 22-year-old woman sitting nearby and “pushed a planter” into her face before striking a man, aged 60.
Bystanders intervened and detained the suspect until officers from Taraval Station arrived and took him into custody. The third victim reportedly refused medical assistance. Both two victims who were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
