'Gyro City' Brings Greek Fare To BrightonPhoto: An L./Yelp

A new Greek spot has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The new addition, called Gyro City, is located at 181 Chestnut Hill Ave. (between Embassy Road & Chiswick Road), in Brighton.

Known for its Greek classics, this isn't Gyro City's first eatery in Boston — there's another location over in Fenway.

The new Brighton location has a robust menu of appetizers (think spanakopita, tzatziki, hummus, lentil soup and dolmades) and sandwiches, including the chicken or pork gyro and pita sandwiches, which can be stuffed with a number of choices, from lamb to falafel.

There are also skewers and larger plates, like the lamb paidakia and the traditional moussaka, not to mention baklava and Greek rice pudding if you want to end your meal on a sweet note.  (You can check out the full menu here.)

Gyro City has proven popular thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Yelper An L., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot, said: “Wonderful Greek addition to Brighton! Delicious pita and falafel and side of potatoes. Nice baklava! Nice space brand new and modern!”

And Jeb B. added: "Just tried the pork gyro, which was excellent. Fresh and plentiful, though next time I probably won't get the fries (bit soggy) ..."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Gyro City is open Thursday–Saturday from 11am–11pm, and Sunday–Wednesday from 11am–10pm.
