Neighbors take note: if you live in the outer Richmond, your options for grocery shopping could be expanding.
New life is rumored to be on the horizon for 375 32nd Ave. (and Clement)—formerly a Fresh & Easy—in the form of a Safeway supermarket, the Richmond District blog reported.
The grocer has reportedly signed a lease for the space, and the store would be the Richmond's third Safeway, after the ones on 7th Avenue and La Playa.
The storefront, which is adjacent to a CVS, has been vacant since the Tesco-owned Fresh & Easy shuttered all of its stores two years ago. The future of the space was long speculated, with neighbors hoping that it would become a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods.
We've reached out to Safeway to confirm the lease for the 32nd Ave. space, but it has not yet responded. Planning records do not yet show any changes for the space, but we'll keep you posted as we learn more.
