Catch a performance by Circus Veritas

Ditch the movies and head over to Oakland's very own Kinetic Arts Center (785 7th St.) for a performance by the members of Circus Veritas, a contemporary circus company in the East Bay.

You can expect to see the dancers transform themselves to a "cult of liars twisting the truth almost as much as they love twisting their bodies into convoluted contortions and engaging in high-flying aerial adventures."

A ticket to the show is usually $32.50, but Groupon is currently offering one for this Sunday's performance at 7pm for $26.50 per person. If you can't make it this weekend, there are two additional shows coming up on December 2nd and 3rd.

Learn to play taiko drums

If you and your partner enjoy listening to music, how about taking a drop-in taiko class with some drummers at Emeryville Taiko (388 9th St.).

A taiko drum is a traditional Japanese instrument that was used in "ancient folk festivals and ceremonies of Japan." Drop-in classes, available on the first Thursday and Saturday of each month, are usually $18, but it's currently being offered on Groupon for $10.50.

Depending on how you and your partner feel afterwards, there is a package for five or 10 adult taiko drum classes for $40.50 and $67.50, respectively.

Go on a scavenger hunt

If watching Netflix on the couch isn't cutting it, how about spending a day on a scavenger hunt? With Big City Hunt (1 Frank H Ogawa Plaza), players will have two hours to race around town to solve riddles and challenges that are sent to their phones.

Along the way, participants can expect to "discover hidden gems while getting fun stories and insights about historical sites they encounter."

A package for two, normally $40, is available on Groupon for $23. If you're looking to do this as a double or triple date, tickets for four people and six people are on sale for $41.50 and $57, respectively.

Salsa the night away

Spice up your night with some salsa dancing at Rueda Con Ritmo (399 Grand Ave.), a dance studio founded in 2007 by a community of Cuban salsa dancers who wanted to offer classes and hold events and performances.

According to the business, it strives to "create a warm and inclusive atmosphere that welcomes dancers of all levels, from all backgrounds, and of all ages."

Two classes are currently being offered for $10.50, which means for $21, you and your partner will have your next two date nights already figured out.
