An irate driver fired a gun at another motorist during a road rage incident on Friday morning at 1:56am in the Mission district, police reported.

The shooting occurred near the corner of 18th and Guerrero streets when a man and a woman in a car, both described as 38 to 40 years old, were engaged in a verbal altercation with a 26-year-old man.

The male suspect, who was sitting in the driver's seat, "leaned out the window" and fired multiple rounds at the victim, striking his vehicle. The suspects' vehicle, which was not described, fled southbound on Valencia Street with the female suspect in the front passenger seat.

The victim was not injured, and no arrests were made, but police recovered spent bullet casings at the scene.
