Here's a recap of recent criminal activity in the South of Market area since our last summary. Unless otherwise noted, all incidents were reported in the police department's daily blotter.

Headphone theft leads to injury 

A 49-year-old male suspect injured a 47-year-old woman during a robbery with force on November 6th. At 4:30pm, the suspect walked up to the victim near the corner of Mission and 7th Streets and demanded her headphones before grabbing them.

The victim struggled with the suspect and fell, at which point the suspect brok her headphones and walked away. No arrest was made and the victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. 

Man hospitalized after intervening in fight 

A 63-year-old man was injured in an assault on the 800 block of Mission Street on November 4th.

At 12:49am, the victim attempted to intervene in an argument between the suspect, a 50-year-old man, and a woman. The suspect then hit the victim with a cane multiple times before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, and no arrest was made.

Shots fired after vehicle collision

Shots were fired after two vehicles collided at a gas station near 7th and Harrison streets on November 3rd.

At 8:20pm, an unknown male suspect backed into a car driven by a 43-year-old woman at the gas station. When the suspect fled in his vehicle and the victim gave chase, he opened fire before fleeing westbound on Interstate 80.

No arrest was made and no description of the suspect's vehicle has been released. The victim was not injured in the incident. 

Man injured during robbery

A 23-year-old man was injured in a robbery that occurred between 11:30pm on October 28th and 1:30am on October 29th.

The victim told police that he was approached by three male suspects on the 700 block of Harrison Street who began to punch him. After the suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction, he noticed his cell phone was gone. 

The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries; no arrest has been made in the case.

Armed robber targets teenagers

On October 29th, a 16-year-old male and a 16-year-old female were robbed at gunpoint on the 1100 block of Howard Street at 7:15pm. The victims were approached by a man between the age of 19 and 22 who demanded their property and threatened them with a handgun.

The teenagers complied and gave the suspect their property, which included keys, cell phones and headphones. The suspect fled eastbound on Howard Street and was not apprehended.

Man beaten, robbed by nine suspects 

Nine suspects robbed and assaulted a 45-year-old man on 7th and Berry streets at some point between 3:00am and 4:00am on October 26th.

The victim asked the group, described as men and women in their thirties, if he could borrow a lighter. The suspects then assaulted the man and stole his backpack, which contained a tablet. No arrest was made and the victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. 

Mugger robs man near 7th & Mission 

On October 26th, a male suspect of an unknown age robbed a 37-year-old man on 7th and Mission streets.

At 2:30am, the suspect approached the victim from behind and punched him. After the victim fell to the ground, the suspect took his wallet (containing money and passport) and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was not hospitalized for his injuries and no arrest was made.
