This is a recap of recent criminal activity in the South of Market area since our last summary on December 5th. All incidents were reported in the police department's daily blotter unless otherwise noted.

Man assaulted with crowbar

On December 26th at 1:30am, a 39-year-old man was walking near Jessie and New Montgomery streets when a 29-year-old male suspect approached him and struck him with a crowbar before fleeing on foot.

No arrests were made, and the victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Muggers steal man's bicycle

Just after midnight on Christmas on the 1000 block of Harrison Street, a 51-year-old man was approached by two men—one in his thirties, and another in his twenties—who demanded his bicycle.

After stealing his bike, the suspects fled northbound on Harriet Street.

Man shoves woman into traffic

On December 23rd at 10:55pm, a 37-year-old male suspect pushed a 60-year-old woman into the street at the corner of 7th and Mission streets, where "she was almost struck by a vehicle," police reported.

The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody.

Robber stabs man on 6th Street

On December 23rd at 6:25pm on the unit block of 6th Street, a 52-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk when a man of similar age approached him and ordered him to hand over his valuables.

The suspect then struck the victim with a knife and fled northbound towards Market Street on foot. No arrest was made, and the victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Attacker cuts woman with knife

On the 100 block of 6th Street on December 20th, a 47-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries after she was attacked from behind by a female suspect approximately 20 years old.

The suspect fled on foot after the victim pushed her away; at that time, she realized that she'd been struck with an unknown edged weapon, and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Man hospitalized after assault

A male suspect between 20 and 40 years old assaulted a 57-year-old man on the 500 block of 5th Street at 2:39pm on December 21st.

The report states that the suspect struck the victim and fled the scene, causing non-life threatening injuries to the victim, who was hospitalized. No arrest was made and no property was taken in the incident. 

Man stabbed on Mission Street

At 11:28pm on December 17th, a 56-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital after a stabbing that occurred on the 1100 Block of Mission Street.

No arrest was made and no description of the suspect has been released. 

Multiple suspects break car window In robbery

Two men, 28 and 33, were robbed in their car at gunpoint on 9th and Howard streets at 2:15am on December 16th.

Multiple male suspects in their thirties surrounded the victims' vehicle before one suspect smashed a side window with a gun. This suspect demanded the victims' property, which included a jacket and money. The suspects then fled northbound on 9th Street and were not apprehended.

Armed robber targets three women

Three female victims ages 25, 47 and 53 were robbed in their car on December 10th at 1:30pm at Howard and Rausch streets.

A male suspect in his forties approached the victims' car, brandished a gun and demanded their property, which included cash and jewelry. No arrest was made and the suspect fled southbound on Rausch Street in an undescribed vehicle. 

Man robbed at gunpoint

On December 8th, a 31-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint at Bryant and Rincon streets at 1:50am. A male suspect between 18 and 25 approached the victim, pointed a gun at him and demanded his cellphone and wallet.

The victim complied and the suspect got into the passenger seat of a car driven by another person before fleeing eastbound on Federal Street.

Robbery leads to Injury on Natoma Street 

At 9:30pm on December 5th, a 35-year-old man was injured during a robbery on the 100th block of 5th Street. The victim was waiting for a ride share when four men approached him.

One suspect in his early twenties grabbed the victim's phone and the other suspects began punching and kicking him. All suspects fled southbound on Natoma Street and the victim refused medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
