Police haven't determined whether the shootings are related, but said they've stepped up their presence in the area.

Just before 11:00pm on December 18th, an officer from the Tenderloin District noticed a dumpster on fire near the intersection of Jones and Turk streets. No injuries or damage were reported, but the incident was one of many arsons that have occurred in the neighborhood recently.
