The Recreation and Parks Department has reported that a Coast Guard helicopter landed in Golden Gate Park this morning at the Big Rec field near Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

The pilot made a "precautionary landing" after a warning light indicated the aircraft had a mechanical problem, NBC reported.

According to the department's Twitter account, "everyone is safe, but the helicopter will be there until repaired." In the meantime, Rec and Park has canceled all scheduled activities in the area.

The aircraft, assigned to Coast Guard Sector San Francisco on Yerba Buena Island, is a search-and-rescue unit used for medical evacuations. According to Wikipedia, the Coast Guard has 102 Eurocopter HH-65 Dolphin helicopters in service.
