Man Stabbed in Santa Clara @Levi's Stadium Soccer Showdown, Police on the HuntSanta Clara PD

In a shocking turn of events during the Mexico-Qatar Gold Cup soccer match at Levi's Stadium, a man was left critically injured after being stabbed in the neck, according to the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD). On July 2, 2023, as emotions ran high, the stabbing took place towards the end of the match in the midst of an active fight within the stadium that resulted in the victim being quickly transported by ambulance to a local hospital for emergency treatment of his upper collarbone injury.

The incident happened as thousands of fans gathered to watch the Confederation of North, Central American, and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Gold Cup double-header games. However, chaos erupted after Qatar secured a 1-0 victory against Mexico, with multiple attendees involved in the altercation, as CBS San Francisco reported.

SCPD officers, upon responding to the scene, discovered the male victim with the visible wound on his upper collarbone area. Witnesses and video footage showed that the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife during the altercation before fleeing from the scene. SCPD detectives have since identified a male suspect and a female person of interest in this heinous crime.

As police work tirelessly to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice, the suspect has been described as a Hispanic male adult, aged between 25 and 35 years old, sporting short dark-colored hair, a thin mustache, and a thin beard. Last seen wearing a green-colored Mexican national team soccer jersey during the game, the suspect was accompanied by a Hispanic female adult with dark-colored hair and a similar jersey, who is now being considered as a person of interest.

With the SCPD actively seeking public assistance to gather more information about the suspect and the person of interest, they urge anyone who recognizes the individuals not to attempt apprehending them. Instead, the public is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Doug Gerbrandt at (408) 615-4823. For those who wish to remain anonymous and provide helpful tips, they can leave a message on the SCPD Anonymous Tip Line at (408) 615-4TIP (4847).
