In a vibrant celebration fitting for the Fourth of July and Sutro's 50th anniversary, the City's sky will be bathed in red, white and blue lasers. Non-profit organization Illuminate the Arts is coordinating the illuminating spectacle as part of their "Summer of Awe."
The show, dubbed "loveAbove", paints night with twelve high-powered lasers blasting from the iconic Sutro Tower. This follows the rainbow laser installation on Market Street, tagged "Welcome," for Pride Weekend. Illuminate the Arts plans for two more installations at prominent San Francisco landmarks this month.
Illuminate the Arts aims to remind San Franciscans of their city's stunning beauty and unlimited creative potential with these magnificent displays. Sutro Tower, once despised - now adored - hit the airwaves with its first radio and television signals on July 4, 1973, making it a fitting site for the Independence Day celebration.
Get ready for more laser-doused landmarks, San Francisco. The city's Coit Tower is next up to receive the laser treatment from July 14 to 16, with an installation called "Candle". However, the Recreation and Park Department has not yet provided the green light. Continue Reading on SFist-->
