Fashion retailer Nordstrom, Inc. delighted shoppers today as they announced plans to open a 26,000 square-foot Nordstrom Rack location in San Diego's popular Clairemont Town Square. This addition is part of the Seattle-based company's strategy to strengthen its retail network and is scheduled to open its doors in fall 2024.

The new store will be situated alongside existing retail giants such as Burlington, TJ Maxx, Ulta Beauty, Reading Cinemas, and Vons. As Clairemont Town Square is well-known for being a favorite spot for shopping, dining, and socializing, the inclusion of a Nordstrom Rack store is expected to significantly boost the area's attractiveness. Taylor Pham, Vice President of Merlone Geier Partners, who owns the shopping center, expressed enthusiasm about the retailer's arrival, noting that it would offer visitors a more vibrant and complete experience, according to a Nordstrom press release.

As the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, Inc., Nordstrom Rack is dedicated to delivering discounted items of up to 70% on apparel, accessories, beauty, home, and shoes, from many of the top brands available at other Nordstrom stores. This strategic move plays a crucial role in executing the company's "Closer to You" initiative, aimed at providing customers with a more convenient and interconnected experience across Nordstrom's stores and digital platforms.

Carl Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Nordstrom Rack Stores, shared his excitement about the upcoming San Diego location, stating that it would help strengthen their network of stores while introducing new customers to Nordstrom Rack's unique product offering. Additionally, he highlighted the convenience of the new location, which will enable customers to pick up online orders and make returns with ease, as mentioned in the FOX 5 San Diego report.

Besides the San Diego store, Nordstrom has plans to open 10 more locations throughout California, thereby increasing the total number of Nordstrom storefronts in the state to 96. This expansion includes 68 Nordstrom Rack stores, 22 Nordstrom stores, 5 Nordstrom Locals, and one asos | Nordstrom.

Not only is Nordstrom devoted to bringing its customers the best shopping experience, but the company also has a strong commitment to giving back to the communities it operates in. Since 2019, Nordstrom, along with its customers, has donated over $1.7 million to support its long-term partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the United States. These funds contribute to the recruitment, training, and engagement of adult mentors and mentorship moments for both "Bigs" and "Littles", such as interview preparation, learning to tie a tie, and assistance with schoolwork, per the Nordstrom report.
