In Emeryville, an East Bay high school found itself enveloped by an air of uncertainty when a mysterious smell resembling a potential gas leak prompted a swift evacuation on Tuesday morning. Emery High School students and staff were temporarily displaced as fire crews and PG&E personnel scoured the premises in search of the source of the unnerving scent. However, as NBC Bay Area reported, no signs of an actual leak were discovered.

According to the Alameda County Fire Department, the distressing aroma was reported near Emery High School at 53rd Street and San Pablo Avenue a little before 9 a.m. Officials responded promptly, taking necessary precautions by evacuating the high school and beginning a thorough investigation into the potential gas leak.

Armed with gas detection meters, firefighters mounted an extensive search of the area, finding no evidence of a noxious fume infestation. As reported by KRON4, PG&E officials conducted their inspection, using their equipment and expertise to corroborate the absence of any gas leaks on campus. As the Alameda County Fire Department diligently cleared the area, students and school personnel could return around noon.
