Shameless Driver Arrested after Horrific Hit and Run in San MateoSource: San Mateo Police Department

In a display of heartlessness and disregard for human life, a driver involved in a hit and run incident in San Mateo has been arrested. The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Rio Vista resident Zachary Edwards has allegedly struck a pedestrian, leaving a 41-year-old male victim in critical condition, according to San Mateo Police Department.

At approximately 4:57 p.m. yesterday, San Mateo Police Department received a report of a pedestrian being struck by a white Toyota Tacoma allegedly driven by Edwards at the intersection of East Hillsdale Boulevard and Curtiss Street. Instead of stopping to offer assistance to the grievously injured victim, he decided to coldly flee the scene.

Fortunately, the swift actions of witnesses and responding officers led to the apprehension of the fleeing driver. Undeterred by the severity of the crime, these witnesses were able to provide the police with a detailed description of the vehicle and its license plate number, allowing them to quickly track down and arrest Edwards, as per the San Mateo Police Department.

Emergency medical services immediately rushed to the scene of the accident and transported the victim to a local trauma center.

The San Mateo Police Department urges any witnesses or individuals with information related to this case to contact them at (650) 522-7700. They are particularly interested in obtaining surveillance footage of the incident and encourage residents to register their home surveillance cameras with the department for enhanced community safety.
