Pacifica Police Department Work to Enhance Pedestrian Safety Yields 37 Citations Source: Pacifica Police Department

The Pacifica Police Department took to the streets in an effort to enhance pedestrian safety, issuing 37 citations for various driving violations yesterday. The operation, which spanned numerous intersections throughout the city, aimed to remind drivers of their responsibility in keeping fellow road users, particularly pedestrians, safe and protected. According to the department's Facebook post, the operation took place from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM in areas such as Hickey Blvd, State Route 1, Manor Dr, Oceana Blvd, Crespi Dr, and Linda Mar Blvd.

Among the traffic infractions cited were driver failure to yield to pedestrian, driver fail to stop at posted stop sign, driver fail to obey traffic signs or signals, and a vehicle stopped blocking a crosswalk. Throughout the course of the operation, a total of 37 drivers were contacted by law enforcement officials. Pacifica Police Sergeant Mansker stressed that "safety is a shared responsibility, with drivers holding the greatest responsibility to keep other road users safe." He went on to emphasize that this operation should serve as a vital reminder to all that attentive driving can make the difference between life and death.

Thanks to a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, which came via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, funding for this program was secured. This essential financial support allowed the police department to increase its enforcement efforts, sending a clear message that road safety needs to be a top priority for all.
