Earlier this year on July 8, a chilling incident took place in the parking lot of Denny's restaurant located at 1201 Broadway, Redwood City. According to Nixle, an altercation inside the restaurant led to two individuals allegedly firing an estimated 15 rounds of 9mm at the victims and their vehicle.

The Redwood City Police Department's Investigations Division worked tirelessly to bring justice to those responsible for the attempted murder. Last month August 25, the police arrested 33-year-old Redwood City resident Sergio MontanoZaragoza. A search warrant led to the discovery and seizure of a loaded 9mm handgun, as well as cocaine packaged for sales at his residence. MontanoZaragoza now faces multiple charges, including three counts of Attempted Murder, Assault With A Deadly Weapon, and Possession of Cocaine for Sales.

Through further investigation, RCPD detectives identified and managed to boldly arrest MontanoZaragoza's accomplice, 22-year-old Redwood City resident Omar SaavedraReynaga, on September 6th. Saavedra Reynaga has been charged with being an accessory to the crime and is currently held at the San Mateo County Jail alongside MontanoZaragoza.
