Xanax-fueled Rampage Unleashes on West Texas Street, Fairfield; 33-year-old ArrestedSource: Fairfield Police Department

In the late hours of September 5th, a drug-fueled outburst shook the neighborhood as a man, later identified as 33-year-old Tristian Thomas of Rio Vista, wreaked havoc on West Texas Street, reportedly assaulting a local business by kicking its door and yelling in the process.

Police were soon dispatched to the scene, arriving around 11:38 p.m. to discover Thomas on a nearby sidewalk. The officers quickly determined he was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, swiftly taking him into custody. The subsequent search to incidentally arrest revealed Thomas's possession of over 75 Xanax pills stored in a baggie alongside additional pills in a second baggie, according to the FB post of the Fairfield Police Department.

As a consequence of these findings, Thomas was booked into jail on multiple charges, the most severe being possession of a controlled substance and possession of Xanax with the intent to sell.

The abuse of prescription drugs, such as Xanax, has played an increasingly significant role in the landscape of drug-related crime in recent years. Referred to as "benzos," benzodiazepines are a class of prescription drugs that include Xanax, Valium, and Klonopin. They are primarily prescribed to treat anxiety and sleep disorders, but as their use has become more widespread, so too has their misuse to tragic effect.
