Early Monday, a body was discovered in a college pond at Evergreen Valley College in East San Jose. Responding to a tip from a person reporting a suspicious object around 10:30 a.m., campus police arrived on the scene, as reported by Mercury News.

The campus police were inititally unable to get close enough to the object to determine its nature. They were later aided by a dive team from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, who confirmed the object as a body.

As of Tuesday morning, the individual has still not been identified by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner, though a college spokesperson stated no indications of foul play.

The operations of the college went uninterrupted on Tuesday despite the discovery. The College's President, Dr. Tammeil Gilkerson, addressed the community in a statement which was later published on Reddit. In his address, Dr. Gilkerson reassured of campus safety and urged distressed students to access available support resources like the Student Health and Wellness Services office, ThinkHopeful, and the Santa Clara County Mobile Crisis Team.
