Night Time Dumbarton Bridge Closure, Menlo Park to Fremont Repaving Impacts Bay Area CommutersSource: Fremont Police Department

The Dumbarton Bridge (State Route 84) will be closed for necessary repaving. The eastbound direction of the bridge will be resurfaced between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. over the next five nights, starting tonight, per the Fremont Police Department.

Connecting the City of Menlo Park in San Mateo County to the City of Fremont in Alameda County, the Dumbarton Bridge is pivotal for the movement of people, and goods, to quickly transit, and services across Bay Area.

The necessary night time closures will affect those traveling towards the East Bay from San Francisco, San Mateo, and the South Bay. To assist, detours will be put in place.

In response to this temporary obstacle, Caltrans recommends San Francisco and San Mateo travelers use the San Mateo Bridge (State Route 92) to reach Hayward. South Bay residents heading to Milpitas or Fremont should take Calaveras Boulevard (State Route 237). Appropriate signs to guide on these alternate routes will be posted, as detailed on Hoodline
