The recent inauguration of the North Bay Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) at the Monarch Justice Center symbolizes a substantial advancement for Napa County residents. It's intended to form a bridge between mental health services and victims of violence, fostering healing and resilience, according to the Napa County District Attorney's Office.

"Survivors of crime can heal, and the TRC embodies our dedication to aiding in this healing process," Kim Phinney, president of Monarch Justice Center's Board of Directors, articulated in the official statement.

The Monarch Justice Center, known for rendering indispensable services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and elder abuse, now also extends trauma-informed mental health therapy and case management services, making it possible for victims of crime to access the required support in overcoming their traumatic experiences.

Kari Cordero, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, is among the key players pushing for this initiative. She asserts the importance of understanding and timely intervention in achieving holistic healing, and recognizes the collective strength at the Monarch Justice Center, described as an "imprint of collective devotion and care."

The North Bay TRC owes its existence to a $2.5 million grant given to Napa/Solano SANE-SART by the California Victim Compensation Board, a panel that funds 22 TRCs across the state. The beneficiaries of the funds are those victims of crime who are underprivileged and may be unable to apply for victim compensation or apprehensive about reporting a crime.
