Armed Burglar Arrested, Unregistered Firearms Seized in San JoseSource: San José Police Department

On an April day in San Jose,  Steven Florentino's armed burglary was interrupted by an unsuspecting neighbor. This prompted a multi-month investigation that finally led to Florentino's arrest, as detailed in the SJPD's news release.

The collective effort of the San Jose Police Department Burglary and Financial Crimes Unit Detectives and the local community led to Florentino's arrest.

Upon thorough investigation, detectives identified Steven Florentino to be the suspect, and got an arrest warrant and a search warrant for his residence. On October 25, Florentino was tracked down and arrested by SJPD's Covert Response Unit (CRU) in San Jose. A subsequent search of his residence revealed a trove of unregistered firearms, ammunition, and assault rifles fitted with suppressors.

Despite being legally prohibited from owning firearms, Florentino's cache of over a thousand rounds of ammunition and multiple firearms, including two assault rifles, one suppressed; two semi-automatic pistols, and twelve antique rifles and pistols, exhibit a flagrant violation of this prohibition.

As the investigation unfolds, anyone with information regarding Steven Florentino's case or related incidents is encouraged to help. Contact Detective Roberson of the San Jose Police Financial Crimes, Burglary Unit at 408-537-1315 or email [email protected].
