Early today, a sophisticated smash-and-grab robbery struck San Francisco's Dior boutique. Using multiple vehicles, the assailants broke through the front of the store and made off with luxury merchandise before leaving the scene according to CBS News.

Police officers arrived at the scene around 6:49 a.m., at which point the criminals had already fled. Eyewitnesses claim that the three vehicles pulled up to the store, one of them crashing through the entrance as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. After looting luxury items, the perpetrators escaped in their vehicles.

Post the crime, one of the suspect vehicles was seen crashing into a freeway on-ramp after a high-speed chase. While the suspects fled on foot, two were captured by law enforcement. The total number of individuals involved in the heist remains uncertain.

Such events are not novel in Union Square's history of luxury store robberies. Two years prior, stores including Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Bloomingdales, Jin's Eyewear, Maxford's Jewelry, and Yves Saint Laurent were burglarized in one night according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
