In Irvine, a vehicle was discovered submerged in a local lake, authorities confirmed early Wednesday. Following reports of a car driving off the road straight into the water on Tuesday night, search efforts by the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) unfortunately led to the grim discovery of an adult female found deceased inside the car, NBC Los Angeles reports.
Occurring around 10 p.m. near the intersection of East Yale Loop and West Yale Loop as emergency responders combed the area. "Firefighters were called at 9:58 this evening for a reported vehicle into the water at the intersection of E Yale Loop & W Yale Loop in Irvine," detailed the OCFA Public Information Officer.
The OCFA utilized an array of resources, including a partnership with the Irvine Police and assistance from Huntington Beach PD's helicopter, to locate the victim.
This unfortunate incident has prompted an investigation, with Irvine Police now taking charge of the scene. "Sadly, 1 individual, an adult female was confirmed deceased inside the vehicle," OCFA's PIO stated on social media, a statement echoed in the OCFA tweet.
