Yesterday, a young man from Sacramento was detained by Rio Vista PD due to alerts from the Flock Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology. The law enforcement agency reported the arrest on their Facebook page.

ALPR technology, in tandem with the specialized K9 unit, successfully facilitated the arrest, highlighting the trend of technology-enhanced law enforcement.

Recognized nationwide, ALPR technology has seen a considerable increase in use by law enforcement. This system captures images of license plates, converting the data into identifiable information that can be matched against a database of flagged vehicles. If there's a match, law enforcement intervenes swiftly for arrest procedures.

In the case of Rio Vista, the ALPR system, with the K9 unit Brig and the police squad, effectively detained a felon who was armed.
