Rohnert Park Police Intensify DUI Crackdown for New Year's, Issue Public Warning on Social MediaSource: City of Rohnert Park Police & Fire

The City of Rohnert Park Police and Fire Department is cracking down on drunk driving this New Year's holiday weekend, urging the community to avoid getting behind the wheel after drinking. In a recent campaign to ensure public safety, they've sent out an unequivocal message: The only thing that should be "Lit" is your headlights—an attempt to quell DUI incidents as festive celebrations ramp up. A recent enforcement stop included a 22-year-old woman, found swerving in her lane, blowing a .18 on the breathalyzer—over twice the legal limit.

The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety has taken to social media to spread word of their intensified DUI enforcement measures. "Make your New Year's resolution NOT to get a DUI," the department stated on their Facebook page. In the same announcement, they shared an incident involving a young woman whose choices on the road could have led to tragic consequences had law enforcement not intervened.

Party-goers are advised to plan, select a designated driver, or utilize alternative transportation options to ensure their New Year kicks off on the right note—free from the repercussions of a DUI charge.
