Mesa Woman Dies After Her Car Crashes Into Residence, Medical Episode SuspectedSource: Google Street View

A tragic turn of events unfolded in east Mesa when a woman's car crashed into a residence Wednesday night. The Mesa Police Department reported that the driver seemed to be in distress when they arrived at the scene near Sossaman Road and University Drive around 10 p.m. Responders rushed her to a hospital, only for her to sadly lose her life, as stated by FOX 10 Phoenix.

The authorities are considering a medical episode as a potential cause of the crash. The woman lost control while navigating a turn on a neighborhood road near 80th Street and University Drive. Her vehicle failed to correct its path and barreled into a nearby house, according to 12 News.

The impact disrupted the quiet of a suburban evening but, fortunately, no occupants of the home were injured. The woman, whose identity has yet to be released, was found by the homeowner. "The driver of the vehicle appeared to be in some sort of distress from either the accident or another possible medical issue," the Mesa Police informed FOX 10 Phoenix.

Mesa police are still piecing together the events leading to the crash and have not yet definitively attributed it to a medical event. There were no other vehicles involved in the unfortunate incident. The homeowner recounted to authorities that the driver had mentioned a medical condition before collapsing, as she told 12 News. Emergency personnel declared her dead at the scene.

As the neighborhood copes with the devastating outcome of this incident, investigators continue to work diligently to fully understand what may have precipitated this tragic crash.
