Houston residents can expect a streak of spring-like weather to continue through the week with rising temperatures and humidity, before experiencing a slightly unsettled start to next week. The National Weather Service's detailed forecast promises sunny skies today, with highs near 74 and calm winds shifting east. As the week progresses, temperatures in Houston are set to climb, hitting a high near 78 on Friday and cresting at a high around 82 by Sunday.
Tonight's outlook remains mostly clear with a low around 56, while winds pick up speed with possible gusts as high as 25 mph on Friday. The evening leads into a partly cloudy Friday night with lows dipping to around 62, according to the National Weather Service. On Saturday, the temperatures are expected to soar near 80, with continued southern gusts. By Saturday night, the clouds will gather, bringing a low around 66, and Sunday nights also follow suit with increased cloud coverage and a warmer low around 70.
Though the week's end looks idyllic, the leading edge of the next workweek hints at less certainty. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms creeps into the forecast post-midnight on Monday, with a mostly cloudy commencement on Monday and a high soaring to about 86 degrees. This slight chance of unsettled weather is expected to carry over into Tuesday, offering a similar 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, as posted by NWS Houston on X.

Despite the potential for wet weather as the week comes to a close, the Storm Prediction Center's recent outlook indicates that "organized severe thunderstorms appear unlikely on Friday," and that any thunderstorm activity toward the weekend will primarily be fueled by a strengthening southwestern low-level jet stream, with the possibility of small hail in the most potent updrafts. As such, Houstonians can enjoy the clement temperatures and spring conditions for now, mere needing to keep a cautious eye on the changeable skies of the approaching week.
