San Bernardino Man Arrested for Series of Sneaker Thefts Across Southern CaliforniaSource: Riverside County Sheriff's Office

Law enforcement officials have apprehended a man linked to a string of high-end sneaker heists across Southern California. Maurice Loujean Bell, age 39, from San Bernardino, was busted by deputies from the Cabazon Sheriff’s Station, putting a dent in what they've described as an Organized Retail Crime ring with losses soaring over $150,000.

The arrest occurred on March 26, 2024, after local law enforcement was to able swiftly respond to a grand theft report at a business located at the 48000 block of Seminole Drive in Cabazon on March 18. Upon arrival, the quartet of culprits had already fled the scene, but diligent investigation soon identified Bell as one of the suspects, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators tracked down Bell, serving a search warrant at his residence where they arrested him on burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, and organized retail theft charges. He is now housed at the Larry Smith Correctional Facility, with police efforts ongoing to round up the remaining suspects tied to the thefts.

The crime ring allegedly specialized in pilfering footwear, systematically targeting shoe stores across the region. Cabazon Sheriff’s Station's patrol deputies, the Crime Suppression Unit, and the Investigations Unit collaborated to unravel the criminal operation and continue to urge anyone with information to step forward. Tips can be directed to Deputy Kyle Kelly at the Cabazon Sheriff’s Station by calling 951–922–7100.
