Santa Rosa Man with Nine Warrants Arrested After High-Speed Chase, Suspected of Multiple FeloniesSource: Google Street View

Deputies nabbed a Santa Rosa man with a whopping nine warrants after a high-speed chase, officials said. The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies spotted Roy Jones, Jr., 54, driving a car without a license plate late on March 25 near Cleveland Avenue in Santa Rosa.

The deputies attempted to stop Jones, but he decided to lead them on a wild chase through town instead. According to the Sonoma Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Jones Jr. ran multiple stoplights and stop signs, drove recklessly in the wrong lane, and seemed to disregard speed limits.

The pursuit culminated when a deputy performed a PIT maneuver at the intersection of Farmers Lane and Sonoma Avenue. The suspect's vehicle was disabled, but Jones, Jr. was not finished yet – he took off on foot, and when caught, he resisted arrest.

When the dust finally settled, Jones, Jr. was booked into jail on charges including felony evading police with disregard for the public’s safety, felony evading police and driving against traffic, misdemeanor resisting arrest, misdemeanor reckless driving, and for his nine outstanding warrants. "He is being held without bail due to two felony no-bail warrants," the Sheriff’s Office stated. Vehicle pursuits, as always, pose a significant risk to public safety.

The Sheriff's Office highlighted the balance they must maintain in their statement: "We constantly evaluate the public’s safety with our duty to apprehend the suspect." They expressed appreciation for the public's cooperation during such incidents.
