Bruce Price, the Sherburne County Veterans Services Officer, is hanging up his hat after a career that spans over four decades, dedicating the better part of his life to the service of his country and its warriors. Price, who has served the county for 12 years, announced he will be retiring come May 24. His tenure included 9 years as the VSO, following a distinguished 24 years of active military service in the U.S. Army.

Described as a committed public servant, Price's retirement marks the end of an era for the county's veterans affairs. County Commissioner and Board Chair Gregg Felber expressed his gratitude, saying “Bruce devoted his career to serving our county and our country. Bruce has worked tirelessly to ensure our veterans and their families receive the best care and benefits," as reported by the Sherburne County.

Price, in a statement reflecting on his time with the county, expressed a deep sense of honor in being able to continue his service to the nation's veterans, whom he considers among its greatest minority groups. "Since becoming a County Veteran Service Officer in 2008, it has truly been my 'honor and pride' continuing to serve and take care of one of the, if not the greatest minority groups of this Country, our Veterans, and their families!” Price says, as per the Sherburne County.

The legacy Price leaves behind is one filled with accolades for his effort to uphold the welfare of those who have donned the uniform. According to the Sherburne County, Board Vice Chair Gary Gray hailed Price's unwavering dedication, noting that “Minnesota’s veterans and their families were well served by Bruce, and we are forever grateful for, and will sorely miss, his selfless service on behalf of those who served.” These words, detailed in the county's online tribute, echo the sense of loss that will be felt with Price's impending departure.
