Firefighters in East Hollywood were called to the scene of a structure fire yesterday afternoon, which was initially reported as a detached garage engulfed in flames. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to the incident at 1161 N Virgil Avenue at approximately 2:38 PM, as detailed in a LA Fire Department alert. The blaze, which turned out to be a one-story residence located at the rear of another home, was threatening to spread before crews contained it.

Despite the fire's rapid progression, the LAFD swiftly managed to corner the flames and prevent damage to the adjacent structure, their efforts were delineated in an update which specifies that "LAFD crews have contained the threat to the adjacent one story home, and are continuing a well-coordinated offensive firefight," according to a follow-up announcement from the department. "First arriving 30 LAFD Firefighters took just 21 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish stubborn flames in a one-story detached residence to the rear of a one-story home," as noted in a report by the Fire Department's spokesperson, Brian Humphrey. With the fire suppressed, officials are now turning their attention to investigating the cause of the fire, which at this time remains undetermined.
