Los Angeles Breakfast Favorite Egg Tuck Expands to Chicago with New Michigan Ave LocationSource: Egg Tuck

The Windy City's breakfast scene has just received an L.A. upgrade. Egg Tuck, a popular Korean-style breakfast sandwich joint from Los Angeles, has recently hatched its first location at 326 N. Michigan Ave, and it comes with a promise to shake things up in Chicago. According to a Block Club Chicago report, Nicole Kim, Egg Tuck Chicago co-partner, was instantly hooked after trying out the place in Southern California, which boasts the title of Best Eggs by LA Weekly.

With the restaurant open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, the plan is to quickly expand and set up two additional Egg Tuck locations — one in Lincoln Park and another at the University of Illinois Chicago campus. These spots are set to join the ranks soon, as pointed out by Kim, suggesting the brand's confidence in their product. The current Chicago menu mirrors that of its West Coast counterpart, and patrons are lining up to taste these scrambled sensations. "It's not just an egg sandwich; it's a real sandwich with meat patty — our product, we call it 'burger-wich,'" Kim told Block Club Chicago.

As for what makes Egg Tuck a standout from the competition, it's all down to their secret scrambled recipe. "It's not just like regular scrambled eggs. The texture is more custardy and more runny. Like, the flavor-wise, it's kind of like Asian flavored," managing partner Nicole Kim explained in a CBS Chicago interview. The establishment takes pride in the continued scrambling of eggs because they simply know customers will keep ordering, with the breakfast crowd turning up the heat in the kitchen.

CBS Chicago reported that beyond the uniquely seasoned scrambled eggs, the local bakery-sourced brioche is sliced in a very particular way to create a pouch that just begs to tuck in those creamy eggs. They've already managed to sell over 500,000 egg-centric breakfasts since their December opening. There's also room for the plant-based crowd, with Egg Tuck offering vegetarian and vegan options like the Sweet Egg or Avo Egg sandwich and a vegan alternative in the Just Burrito.
