Chaos erupted in the early hours of Saturday morning on the usually buzzy U Street in Northwest, Washington D.C., as gunshots rang out in a popular restaurant, leaving one man dead. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers were quick on the scene after hearing gunfire at approximately 1:12 a.m. in the 1300 block, according to official reports.

The aftermath was grim: 43-year-old Kenneth Goins from Salisbury, Maryland, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency personnel's rapid response and efforts, Goins's injury was fatal, and he was pronounced dead right there, inside the establishment.
