Marietta History Center to Host Workshop on Tombstone Preservation May 18Source: City of Marietta Website

The Marietta History Center is rolling out another series of its tombstone cleaning workshops. These events, having drawn considerable interest from the locals, are geared towards teaching attendees the art of maintaining and preserving Marietta's stone-carved legacies. Slated for May 18, the workshop, which runs from 10am to noon, will offer participants guidance on proper tombstone care.

Under the supervision of Christa McCay, M.H.P., the Collections Manager at the center, these workshops provide community members the chance to roll up their sleeves and learn restoration techniques for these enduring markers of the past. While working excitedly at the workshop, attendees will ensure that tombstones stay intact for generations to lay their eyes upon and ponder the stories of those long gone, burdened with the ravages of time and weather.

Those interested in joining the initiative are advised to act quickly, as the event has a 10-person cap and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost of entry is $25 for non-members and $15 for members, who have to reach out to [email protected] to snag their discounted tickets. Registration details and additional information are available on Marietta History Center's website.
